Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa could challenge each other in a boxing match: this was stated by the Spanish broadcaster DAZN, which took stock after some of the couple’s outings on social media.
“You know I like challenges. Fifteen years ago we had our ups and downs, both on and off the track.” These are Lorenzo’s words in a video in which he invited his former rival to put on his gloves and be on his guard.
In fact, the tussles between the two, especially when racing for Yamaha and Honda, were epic. An example? The 2010 Spanish Grand Prix, decided on the last lap. Two years earlier there had been another heated clash, between Lorenzo and Pedrosa. After the finish line, tension was high. So much so that it was even the former king of Spain, Juan Carlos, who invited them to shake hands on the podium.
DAZN reports that Lorenzo is ready to enter the ring: “I thought of a slightly crazy challenge, here at the Gran Price in Barcelona.”
Pedrosa seems to have accepted his former rival’s proposal: “At first I thought it was a crazy idea, but it’s also true that in this period I’m in good shape and I don’t deny that the temptation to give it to you is quite important. So I accept the challenge.”
“Tell me the day and time, I’ll see you in the ring”, concluded the current KTM tester, who will take to the track tomorrow for the first free practice session of the Estrella Galicia 0.0 Spanish Grand Prix, in which he will participate as a wildcard on the RC16.
Lorenzo has hinted that the meeting will take place behind closed doors. But it could be streamed on YouTube.
