Latina, Eleonora blows out 100 candles: Mayor Celentano also attends the birthday party

Latina, 5 May – The citizen of Latina Eleonora Acanfora recently turned 100 years old. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren organized a beautiful party for her in her home in the center of her, also inviting the mayor Matilde Celentano. A surprise for Mrs. Eleonora, very happy to shake hands with the first female Mayor of Latina who brought her the best wishes of the municipal administration and the entire community of Latina, with the hope that “she will continue to be a light of hope for the his family and a living memory for the new generations of the city”.

Mrs. Eleonora Acanfora, born in Castellamare di Stabia on May 3, 1924, she discovered herself as a writer of novels and short stories collected in a self-published book in 2013, when her beloved husband Salvatore Onorato passed away.

Elegant and in excellent health, during yesterday’s party, Mrs. Eleonora indulged in the usual photos, but not before telling the Mayor about her life, from her first memories of living in Terracina, where the family had transferred for work reasons of her father, who became director of the Cirio factory.

With emotion, Mrs. Eleonora has recounted the dramatic years of the war, of her father who died prematurely when she was 15 and of her mother who died in 1943 following the bombing of Terracina. In that period, her future husband Salvatore, born in 1921 also from Stabia, had been captured and taken prisoner in Greece for four long years. Mrs. Eleonora remembered the day of the culmination of their love, with the wedding celebrated on 15 November 1947 in the cathedral of Terracina, and then choosing Latina as the city in which to live.

From the union of Eleonora and Salvatore, employed in the construction sector, six children were born: Maria (unfortunately passed away in 2005), Franca, Raffaele, Liberato, Agostino and Marco. Then there will be 11 grandchildren and the same number of great-grandchildren. An intense lifefull of love, sacrifices, pain, and small joys sought through the passion for dancing and travel.

Yesterday Mrs. Eleonora blew out her hundred candles, surrounded by the immense affection of her family.
