“Death Bucci. P38”. It is the writing written after the anti-fascist march that took place yesterday in Genoa. The message threatening the mayor of the Ligurian capital was placed on a wall in Via Fiume with a spray can.

The President of the Region Giovanni Toti comments: “Solidarity with the mayor of Genoa Marco Bucci, threatened by an insulting writing that appeared yesterday in Genoa after the anti-fascist march. A moment of celebration, foreseen and protected by our Constitution, must never become a reason for violence and urban decay. The cowardly attack on Mayor Bucci tarnishes without ifs or buts the memory of those who sacrificed their lives for freedom”.

Also Stefano Ballearigroup leader in the FdI Region and candidate for the European elections, recipient of threatening messages and vandalization of electoral posters, is in solidarity with Bucci: “I express solidarity with the Mayor Marco Bucci for the vile writing addressed to him which recalls the years of lead. My posters in via Venti Settembre were almost all vandalized during the passage of the processions for the celebrations of April 25th. I consider it absurd to demonstrate for the values of freedom and then to deface posters and threaten representatives of institutions guilty of not belonging to the single thought imposed on the left. These are just the consequences of the climate of hatred created by PD and M5S. I understand that it is frustrating to lose almost everywhere, but in this way they are only making their situation worse foment the hunt for the ghosts of a past overcome by history”.

In a note, the council group of the Lega in Comune also intervenes: “The Lega in Comune expresses all its solidarity with the mayor of Genoa Marco Bucci and condemns the unprecedentedly aggressive graffiti that appeared against him in the city centre. This is yet another violent gesture by those who profess to be anti-fascist in words, but in reality do nothing but want to fuel a climate of hatred and violence which unfortunately is constantly on the rise and which represents a danger for our democracy. These gestures are worrying and must be firmly condemned by all political forces. We hope that the perpetrators will be identified and punished.”
