PESARO – Riceci case, the mayor of Pesaro Matteo Ricci spoke to the parliamentary commission of inquiry into illicit activities connected to the waste cycle and other environmental and agri-food offences.
«The Marche Region must do its job, there is no planning, but a great lack. Let the Province find a plan B quickly.” So Mayor Ricci. «The Riceci landfill will not happen, the sooner the matter is closed the better. It will not be done because the Municipality and the surrounding municipalities, which had previously given the OK, they have changed their opinion, because there are no distances from the inhabited centers. We have repeatedly urged the Province and the Region to close the issue. The Province because it has the responsibility of the procedure, and the Region to include the needs of waste disposal in our province, in a regional planning that is lacking. The project is wrongand in my opinion it is also wasting a lot of our time, with a very evident damage to the company’s image».
«As mayor I was not involved, if not when the first controversies arose, when the CEO Tiviroli explained to me. To my objections and my perplexity they replied that the protagonists of the story had already agreed. But it all stems from the fact that if the single company Marche Multiservizi Aset had been created, as regards special waste the suitable site would have been that of Monteschiantello. The negotiations for that company have now been interrupted for several months, perhaps for a few years, and consequently Marche Multiservizi has been looking for a place for the disposal of special waste”.
Again, «A plan B must be studied. The municipal administration was not aware of the project, which we discovered when the first controversies arose. We had a very strong clash, even with Hera within the shareholders’ meeting, in which I logically asked to put forward a plan B. The board of directors simply followed an indication from the CEO, who took everything for granted having received reassurances from the competent municipalities he went ahead and had no difficulty convincing the board of directors that everything would be fine. This was not the case, the board of directors is looking within the Multiservizi brand for the public sector to study a plan B exactly as the Municipality of Pesaro and the other municipalities have requested”.
