World of sport in mourning for the death of Fabio Vaccari at the age of 49married to Mara for more than 20 years and father of Mattia, who is about to turn 18.
On Wednesday 24 April, starting at 2.30pm from the funeral home of the Santa Maria hospital (where he was hospitalised), the funeral will be held in the church of San Prospero Strinati which promises to be packed.
«Fabio and I met many years ago on an Ifoa post-diploma course – says his wife Mara – he was then hired and still worked there as a computer programmer. What has always distinguished him is his smile. In fact, he always made himself loved by all those who knew him, starting from his family.”
Vaccari was originally from Modena, but he had moved to Reggio for love. With Mara he lived in the neighborhood of San Prospero Strinati: «With our son Mattia he shared a passion for sport – he continues – being skilled with the PC he had installed a Formula 1 game and they spent hours having fun. In addition to athletics, she loved reading and seeing exhibitions and was always curious about new things. Lately, for example, he had become passionate about yoga.”
Fabio Vaccari is also remembered by those who, every day, saw him at the Camparada pitch giving advice and interacting with the younger players whom he followed even in away matches: «Dear Fabio, your support for Self was exciting and engaging, we will not forget your passion and your completely altruistic dedication – it is the moving memory of president Alberto Montanari – We know that you will continue to support athletics and we will continue to follow the example and ideas that you too have shared and supported. Thank you so much.” Technical director Sara Vezzani also joins in: «We will always remember the passion and joy that Fabio put into everything he did: from being first a walking athlete, then a valid collaborator in the club, and finally a good coach. We lose a special person but the memory will remain with us forever.”

Fabio Vaccari also leaves his mother Milena and father Paolo in pain. Self Atletica has started a fundraiser on the Gofoundme platform to support the family.
