Waste, fight against the crafty. In 2024 one fine per day
Descriptive text here

The fight against the indiscriminate abandonment of waste and the incorrect disposal of continuous separate waste collection continues. In this regard, the municipal administration, Hera and the local police continue to work together on two fronts: greater controls and sanctions against abandonments, as happened in via Roversano, near the Branzaglia power plant, where they proceeded with the identification of the person who committed the crime by initiating a sanctioning procedure against him, and on the other through actions to raise awareness among citizens and actively involve them with initiatives defined in agreement with some local associations (this is the case of “Garbage Catcher”).

Six camera traps are active in the municipal area, directly managed by Hera, and a further four managed by the “Fiorini” command in via Natale Dell’Amore. These are watchful eyes installed by the Municipality and the waste manager with the aim of identifying and detecting incorrect behavior in the disposal of waste, but also to combat the phenomenon of abandonment with the aim of protecting the environment and urban decorum. From 2019 to 2023, 735 administrative violation reports were drawn up by the local police. On the other hand, there are 115 reports from January 2024 to today, a marked increase thanks to the camera traps, which will soon be implemented with additional devices thanks to a PNRR loan awarded to Hera as part of mission 2 “Green revolution and ecological transition”.

During 2023, Hera’s inspectors carried out 1872 interventions (which resulted in 104 sanctions) and as many as 470 during the first months of the current year. In this regard, a new inspector has been active in the municipal area of Cesena since 1 January, in addition to the three already employed in 17 municipalities in the Cesenate area. The agent’s task is to monitor user behavior by checking incorrect displays of excess waste and the volume of the assigned bin. He also provides tutoring, checks whether the waste complies with the type of collection, carries out checks inside the bags subject to illegal dumping and those thrown into street bins for the collection of prunings, paper, plastic, glass. Further support is represented by the voluntary ecological guards who, five days a week, carry out control, assessment, education and awareness-raising activities.
