NASA: “China has made extraordinary progress in space”

It is alleged that China is hiding its military presence in space by using civilian programs, thereby strengthening its space capabilities.

The head of the United States Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA), Bill Nelson provided information to members of Congress on China’s space activities.

Nelson reported that China has made extraordinary progress in space, especially in the last 10 years, however it has done so in a very secretive manner.

“We believe that many of what (China) calls civilian space programs are military programs,” Nelson said, arguing that the Beijing administration hides its military presence in space by using these programs.

Bill Nelson, noting that China has strengthened its space capabilities in this way, said the United States should “remain vigilant.”

Nelson stating that the two countries are in a race on this issue and that the United States should go to the Moon before China, added: “If China goes to the Moon before the United States, it can claim some regions of space as its own territory.” .

China aims to land a crewed expedition on the Moon by 2030 and establish a fully functional research base on the Moon by 2050.
