Around 11am, according to what was learned, a suspicious man was seen by a witness as he entered the consular headquarters in Tehran.
According to BFM TV sources, the man, who entered the Iranian consulate in Paris around 11am and was suspected of having explosives, was subsequently stopped. The man said that he wanted to avenge his brother.
What happened
“Around 11am, a man was seen by a single witness entering the Iranian consulate at 16 rue de Fresnel in Paris carrying a grenade or an explosive vest,” a Paris police source said. “The prefect of police has mobilized the BRI”, an elite police unit, added the same source, specifying that the consulate had addressed a “request for intervention” to the police headquarters.
Isolated area
The area was entirely cordoned off and inaccessible to anyone who was not part of the security services.
Traffic on the subway lines serving the neighborhood was interrupted.
