Thieves steal a car: they escape and then set fire to the car in Canavese

He had stolen a Fiat 500 in Turin and then set it on fire in a meadow in the Canavese area.

This is what happened late yesterday evening, Thursday 18 April, at Barbaniain a field near the provincial road 228, in via dei Boschi, which leads to the hamlet of the same name.

Moments of fear and a very long column of smoke that rose from the green fields: the fire was reported around 10.30pm by some passers-by who immediately alerted 112. The firefighters of Rivarolo Canavese and Nole, who intervened promptly, worked to put out the flames which had completely engulfed the car.

The Ciriè carabinieri, who arrived at the scene of the accident, confirmed that the vehicle had been stolen. The intention of the criminals was probably to eliminate every possible tracesuggesting the hypothesis that the vehicle could have been used to carry out other attacks.

Investigators are now proceeding with investigations to trace the legitimate owner of the car. The timely intervention of the firefighters averted the risk that the fire could spread to the surrounding vegetation.
