The City Council for the 2019-2024 term met last night for the last time. At the end of the meeting, Mayor Marco Gallo, who has chosen not to stand again in the next municipal elections of 8-9 June, but will be among the candidates for the Piedmont Regional Council, addressed his farewell speech to the assembly and citizens (HERE the link), after ten years as mayor and the previous ten as municipal administrator.
During the session, the 2024 budget change was unanimously approved which brings the balance from the previous 17,061,208 euros to 18,173,549 euros, leaving the forecasts of 12,266,888 euros for 2025 and 12,228,888 euros for 2026.
The main items of the change concern the investment part (title IV of the revenue and title II of the expenditure) for which the transfer of 609,257 euros from the State for price compensation relating to the works of the school complex, of 48,000 euros from the CRC Foundation for the restoration work of Casa Francotto and 100,000 euros from the CRC Foundation for the external areas of the school complex as part of the Urban School Landscapes project.
An administrative surplus is then applied for 91,650 euros deriving from the surplus intended for investments and for 160,457 euros deriving from the free surplus, however used to finance capital expenditure. Among the latter, we highlight 609,257 euros for the school complex; 150,000 euros for the external areas of the new school premises financed with administration surplus and 100,000 euros financed by the CRC Foundation; 94,108 euros for the restoration work on Casa Francotto; 56,000 euros for adaptation to the safety standards of the retirement home.
The Council also approved the 2023 management report which presents a surplus of 1,052,026 euros.

Presided over by mayor Marco Gallo, whose civic list had obtained 74.03% of the votes in 2019, the outgoing municipal council is made up of the following councilors elected in the administrative votes of 26 May: for the majority Gianmichele Cismondi (522 preferences), Ezio Donadio (429), Lucia Rosso (367), Diego Bressi (322), Beatrice Aimar (301), Marco Gollè (260), Jacopo Davide Giamello (245), Gian Franco Ferrero (243), Paolo Comba (238), Maria Chiara Giusiano (234), Elio Campana (217), for the two minority lists Eros Pessina (candidate for Mayor), Daniela Isaia (81 preferences), Jonathan Bagnaschi (49) representing the relevant civic list Busca nel Cuore (16.75 % ) and Silvia Gollé (candidate for Mayor) and Luca Pavan (50 preferences) from the 5 Star Movement list (9.21% – from 10.13.2023 the group takes the name of Civic List 2023). The municipal council of Valmala composed of the pro-mayor Andrea Picco and the consultants Germano Rinaudo, Giorgio Bolla, Daniele Martino, Giuseppe Salvo (since July 2019 Luca Michelis).
