It caused pain and disbelief in two towns, Osio Sotto and Bottanuco, the death of Ferruccio Paolo Carminati, the 53-year-old motorcyclist who died on Wednesday, in Via Per Stezzano in Bergamo, after being hit by a tree branch and going off the road. The fifty-three-year-old had lived in Osio Sotto for 30 years, in a condominium in via San Donato with his wife Tina Pitergi. But he had always maintained ties with the community of Bottanuco, the town where he grew up and where he had many friends. On Thursday in the bars of the two countries there was nothing else talked about. After the accident, the motorcyclist’s body was placed in the mortuary of the Papa Giovanni XXIII hospital in Bergamo where it is still available to the judicial authorities: initially it was expected that she would only be subjected to an external examination but now, apparently, the magistrate who is dealing with the case, the deputy prosecutor Paolo Mandurino, is considering ordering an autopsy. Therefore, the date of the funeral is not yet known but it is already certain that they will be celebrated in the parish church of Osio.
The funeral home will instead be set up in the town’s farewell house. Carminati, who worked as a worker in a company in Levate, is described by all those who knew him as a good, correct and honest person: «However, in his simplicity he was extraordinary» his nephew Morris, manager of a bar in Bottanuco, remembers him with great affection, who also speaks of his uncle’s two passions: «One was the motorbike: he liked to go for rides on his motorcycle. I don’t know, however, where he was going at the time of the accident.” And the other was music: «In the family chat – the nephew continues – he had just shared that this very evening (yesterday for those reading this, ed.) he would have to go to the Assago Forum in Milan to see a concert. What an absurd death that happened to him.” And the mayor of Bottanuco Rossano Pirola also speaks about the fifty-three-year-old’s passion for music. In fact, the mayor recalls how Carminati was part of the organizational staff of the «Rock Island Festival», a historic musical event that took place in Bottanuco from the 90s until 2014: «The news of his death and how it happened – comments the first citizen – it affected our entire community.” Carminati also leaves in pain a son, Pablo, who was abroad for work at the time of the accident.
