Smart Car, second act. At least at Citroen, given that the electric Panda and other derivative models under the Fiat brand will also be born from the Stellantis architecture. After the presentation of the C3 small car, here it is on the launch pad new Citroen C3 Aircross. By profession SUV, b-suv for its positioning on the market, the model undergoes a radical evolution compared to the proposal that has dominated the world of urban crossovers since 2017.
To date, not a true sport utility, rather a “mixed” vision between the crossover and the multispace. Here, the centrality of the Citroen C3 Aircross offer is precisely around the versatility of the interior.
NEW CITROEN C3 AIRCROSS 2024
A profile under which the new generation promises to do much better. Not just for the proposal, unprecedented in the B segment – although we will see it is a very stretched classification – of the 7-seater configuration. Especially for the dimensions: one of the few data announced towards the presentation in the coming weeks is related to the length of the new C3 Aircross: 4.39 meters. A nice step forward when compared to the 4.16 meters of the current model. Extra centimeters that will go especially into the wheelbase and which will benefit the trunk, in the 5-seater configuration. Centimeters which place the C3 Aircross, in fact, like a compact car, at the gates of the C segment.
STYLE
On the road it will be driven in the electric and 1.2 liter petrol mild hybrid versions, here too the same solutions applied to the C3 sedan. How style can be considered in a evident family feeling. It is for the cut of the front headlights and the grille – with the new Citroen logo -, for the squared and 3D geometries of the rear lights. Specific SUV features are the presence of 17″ wheels with all-season tyres, plastic protections around the perimeter and on the front and rear bumper strip. The roof bars “enclose” a height that will certainly be higher than the figure of 1.57 meters declared by the new C3, a model that has migrated towards crossover proportions.
INTERIOR
Much still remains to be discovered. Inside we expect the same solutions – being the common technical platform – seen on the C3 in terms of instrumentation replaced by the head up display at the base of the windshield and multimedia. The new C3 Aircross could reveal specific features in terms of storage compartments, comfort and versatility of the interior: from the configuration of the three rows of seats to the individual possibility of adjusting and managing the seats themselves.
PRICES AND MARKET EXIT
The release on the market is expected during the summer, prices will be communicated close to the launch. An element on which Citroen creates important expectations, anticipating the absolute competitiveness of the b-suv proposal. Promises that have been kept on the C3 sedan.
