PONTEDERA. It is a colorful and bombastic world that invaded the streets and roads of Pontedere yesterday. THE Vespa World Days they started in style by gathering thousands of scooters and just as many people on them at the Village from different countries and cultures but united by the same passion for a vehicle that in 78 years has become a global phenomenon. A mini revolution on two wheels which however still has a lot to tell. Because once the first day of the international maxi event has been archived, there are still three days left, full of events and appointments. Meanwhile, today is the day of the Gymkhana which opens at the Village at 10am and closes at 4pm with the awards ceremony. But still in the beating heart of the event, the test ride of Piaggio vehicles is scheduled from 4 to 6.30 pm, while the regularity school is scheduled for 4.30 pm. The Vespa tours to discover the Lands of Pisa will still start from here.

There will be short proposals from mid-morning or mid-afternoon, special tours within Pontedera and longer visits, spread over a whole day. From Volterra to Calci passing through Terricciola, Lajatico, Peccioli and Casciana Terme Lari there are 30 tourist proposals packaged for this long weekend which will involve more than 20 municipalities and will be a special showcase for our territory.

Tomorrow the Vespa enthusiasts will make a stop, just to name a few routes, in San Miniato, and will be at 3.45 pm in Piazza del Seminario, where they will be able to stamp in and, before proceeding with the tour, taste some local delicacies thanks to a small point tasting offered by the Municipality and the San Miniato Promozione Foundation. The tour will arrive from San Romano and will cross Ponte a Egola, La Catena, San Miniato Basso until it goes up to the historic center and then resumes its way back through via Vittime del Duomo, via Rondoni, via de’ Mangiadori, Piazza Buonaparte, via Del Bravo, viale Matteotti, via del Poggio and via Fontevivo, in order to avoid the construction area in Piazza del Popolo.

The Vespa club of San Miniato and Pontedera have made available, among other things, a white Vespa 125 which was finished by the Essebi upholstery of Pontedera with leather offered by the Consorzio Conciatori di Ponte a Egola, by the Consorzio Vera Pelle al Vegetale and by the Vero Cuoio Consortium, and hand-sewn on the saddle, top case, grips and helmet. A unique object that can be visited at the Village. Viale Rinaldo Piaggio, on the other hand, will be the Pontedere headquarters of the Tuscan excellence market, created in collaboration with the Biodistrict, with Cia and Coldiretti and with a network of small producers in the quality agri-food chain. Then, at the Village, there will be skate performances throughout the afternoon and at the Teatro Era the initiatives will begin at 3.30 pm with the talk show “Mythical Vespisti”, with Eugenio Leone, the collaboration of The Tyrrhenian Sea and the men and women who made the history of the Vespa.

Followed by Iacopo Crudeli’s recital “Escodamè in Vespa” at 5.30 pm and at 7 pm “Vespa may love” by Alberto Bortoluzzi in partnership with the Piaggio Foundation. The curtain finally falls after the presentation of the book “The infinite streets of the Vespa”, scheduled for 8pm. The Cineplex will also be involved with the screening of three films: the Disney-Pixar production Luca, the legendary Roman Holiday and the fiction Enrico Piaggio , an Italian dream. This morning the gallery rooms will then welcome the viewing of the Short Movie “Sulle Ali della Vespa”, a short film directed by Renato Raimo made together with some schools in Pontedera. From Fuori del Ponte to the city center where the local Vivo! organizes “Vinyl night” from 6pm and Piazza Martiri della Libertà hosts the concert, at 9pm, by Cricca and Street Clerks. The highlight event however remains the Vespa parade. Tomorrow’s big parade which promises to be a snake over 10 kilometers long.
