The Bottini dell’Olio Library turns yellow with the exhibition dedicated to crime literature

LIVORNO – The first exhibition dedicated to the detective literature: is titled “Yellow pages – literary festival rehearsals” and it will take place Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st April at the Oil Bottini Library. The initiative, with free entry, is organized by the Autonomous Police Union.

“Italy is the homeland of literary crimes – said the organizers Alessio Porquier and Luca Tomassin – From Gadda to Scerbanenco, from Sciascia to Camilleri, there are many writers who have portrayed our society through the prismatic lens of crime fiction. And for this reason too, for years now, literary festivals dedicated to noir have arisen throughout the peninsula, an increasingly fruitful and evocative narrative genre. Livorno also needed a place where authors and readers, enthusiasts and professionals in the sector, could meet and clash around the common table of passion for paper crimes”.

This first edition which is subtitled “Rehearsals of a literary festival”, sees the patronage and participation of the Municipality of Livorno, intends to inaugurate a fruitful season of meetings, round tables, presentations, exhibitions, suggestions, reflections all dedicated to detective stories, noir and thrillers and its national and international protagonists. In this “first time” there will be a focus on the figure of the commissioners, we will talk about the “crime” genre in our region through the contribution of authors who have set their stories in Tuscany or who have developed the origin of their narrative.

A dutiful and essential tribute will be dedicated to “The BarLume crimes“, with reference to the series and its development, the cast and the working group that has formed in recent years, furthermore many interesting stage phototaken over the last few seasons by Paolo Cirielloone of the most appreciated photographers of Italian cinema, all with the support of Palomar-Mediawan, production house of the most important Italian fiction, which embraced our project with enthusiasm.

Sunday will be dedicated to the actors of the series with a tribute to Marcello Marzialiwho recently passed away, who in addition to being a television personality was the protagonist of the Livorno vernacular comedy theater much loved by the public of his city.

The program

The festival will start on Saturday 20 April at 4pm, when they will be guests to investigate the genre two great Tuscan writersauthors of best-sellers translated throughout Europe, Leonardo Gori and Marco Vichi. Marco De Franchi, also an author of thrillers, who has lived in Livorno for many years, will talk to them and discuss themes and situations that have to do with the relationship between Tuscany and “crime”.

Following, at 5.30 pm, always on the same day on Saturday, there will be the writer Gianni Palagonia, former anti-mafia policeman, known to the general public thanks to his truth novels, who will talk about his profession as a writer after his first life spent carrying out high-risk investigations. “Questioning” him was the magistrate Dr. Massimo Mannucci, deputy prosecutor at the Livorno prosecutor’s office and an excellent crime writer.

To close the meeting with Palagonia there will be a tribute to the victims of the Mafia and the dramatic moments that have marked the history of this country and its faithful servants.

Sunday afternoon at 4pm, before the tribute to BarLume, with a curious conversation between the writer Paola Albertiqueen of crime dinners in clubs all over Italy with her “Crime Company”, and the Labronian actor Guglielmo Favilla (among the key characters of BarLume), on Sherlock Holmes and the culinary tastes of the legendary detective, with the presentation of the book “Breakfast with Sherlock Holmes”, a manual of recipes that Conan Doyle imagined were the favorites of his literary characters.
