PERUGIA – Sir wins game 1 of the championship final with Mint Vero Volley Monza. The Umbrians take a risk in the first set (3-9pm, 21-24), the warmth of the crowd and a turn of service from Semeniuk put Perugia back on track until the final 27-25.

Russo’s first half closed the contest in the fourth set. Match numbers very balanced in various fundamentals, Perugia makes the difference in attack (57% against 51%) and above all in blocking with 14 winners against 5 opponents. MVP Simone Giannelli.

We were a bit inconsistent and had some mistakes, but we were good at staying in the game against an excellent opponent. We have to try to resolve the things that didn’t go tonight, we have to work and we will try to improve in view of Game 2.”

Arthur Szwarc (Mint Vero Volley Monza): “I think the match against Trento taught us a lot: this is only the first match of the Series against Perugia. We had a good chance in the first set, playing together as a team. Then we struggled a little more in the second and we weren’t able to get back into the match.”
