Prevention in every drop: Calabria PGI oil protagonist at Vinitaly for the fight against tumors

“Prevention in every drop”: this is the message launched by the Calabria PGI Oil Consortium on the occasion of Vinitaly, the international fair for quality wine and agri-food products which was held in Verona from 10 to 13 April.

On Sunday 14 April, at the Sol Pavilion of the Calabria Region, a public meeting dedicated to the role of extra virgin olive oil in cancer prevention took place. The event, organized in collaboration with the Italian League for the Fight against Cancer (LILT), saw the participation of experts and leading personalities from the medical and scientific sector.

The benefits of Calabrian extra virgin olive oil

At the center of the meeting are the benefits of Calabrian PGI extra virgin olive oil, rich in polyphenols, substances with important antioxidant properties.

“Scientific studies show that the polyphenols contained in extra virgin olive oil can help reduce the risk of developing tumors,” said Professor Sante Burati, oncologist and president of LILT in Verona. “The Calabrian PGI extra virgin olive oil, in particular, is a product of excellence that stands out for its high content of these beneficial substances”.
