Death of Mattia Giani: investigation for manslaughter

The Public Prosecutor’s Office Florenceas reported by various media, has opened a file on the death of the 26-year-old footballer, Mattia Giani, with the hypothesis of the crime of manslaughter. Giani played in Castelfiorentino and, on the afternoon of last Sunday 14 April, he fell ill during a match with the Lancet which was being played at the stadium Bisenzio fields: the young footballer then died on Monday morning atCareggi Hospital.

At the moment there are no people registered in the register of suspects. The pm Giuseppe Ledda will arrange for the autopsy, which will be held in the next few days.
The investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office was started after the boy’s parents, present in the stands during the match and who therefore witnessed the tragedy, were interviewed by the Carabinieri of the Company of San Miniato (Pisa), where they live, as people informed of the facts.
