HEALTH AND SAFETY AT WORK: CISL MOBILIZATION CONTINUES, MEETING TOMORROW IN LANCIANO | Current news

LANCIANO – “The massacre continues, being indignant is not enough, we must stop this carnage. For this reason, in recent weeks, the CISL has mobilized in the territories of Abruzzo with many initiatives to meet workers, citizens, local institutions, and address the national emergency of health and safety in the workplace. We need a national strategy to combat the many accidents and occupational diseases, building a great pact between the government, the business system, the trade unions and the regions”.

This is what we read in a note from the CISL which continues the mobilization on health and safety in Abruzzo: tomorrow, 18 April, meeting in Lanciano (Chieti), at 9.30 am, in the CISL headquarters (Via del Mare n. 102) for a meeting between the trade union ruling class, the RLST, RSA, RSU representatives and the institutions.

“Since February we have also been involved in assemblies in the workplace and in the local areas with the aim of raising awareness of institutions and businesses about this emergency”, explains the CISL secretary in a note. Giovanni Notaro.

“Ours continues to be the region with the highest number of accidents at work and this must lead us to intensify every effort in prevention. The program is divided into four meetings which began yesterday, 16 April in L’Aquila at the CISL headquarters (Via Giovanni Gronchi, 16), with an in-depth meeting between the trade union ruling class, representatives of Rlst, rsa, rsu and institutions ; then tomorrow 18 April at 9.30 we will be in Lanciano at the union headquarters (Via del Mare n.102). A discussion with the institutions and officials on the topic of health and safety which will continue in Pescara on 19 April at 3.30 pm at the Aurum. The debate on this national emergency will also continue in the province of Teramo on April 23rd at 3.00 pm at the University of Teramo in the Thesis room of the Faculty of Political Sciences”, adds the interregional secretary Paolo Sangermano.

“An alarming picture based on the data on deaths and injuries in the workplace, which reflects widespread illegality, also confirmed by the data of the National Inspectorate, according to which the law remains only on paper in more than eight out of ten inspections. Fatal accidents are always on the increase, in addition to serious accidents at work and occupational diseases. We must stop this scourge of society to safeguard the lives and health of working people. Abruzzo is among the top regions for the number of deaths at work. On Saturday we were at the CISL national assembly in Rome, with 250 managers, delegates, RSU, RLS, RLST and RSA, to bring the testimonies of our territories where this trail of blood continues”, denounce the two secretaries Notaro and Sangermano.

“We must give continuity to the dialogue, through discussion with the Government in order to improve and strengthen the measures put in place in the Pnrr Decree to stop this unacceptable silent massacre. We have shared some measures: it is right to increase controls and inspections in the workplace, it is important, even if not sufficient, to recruit new inspectors, prevention technicians, carabinieri from the national inspectorate. The idea of ​​focusing on the quality of the company with the experience of the credit license is good. Equally positive is the decision to reinvest through Inail in projects on the quality of companies, mandatory training for workers and employers, to hire new inspectors, researchers, prevention technicians and also to increase incomes and bonuses for the affected people and families . We must link the need to transfer the rules and procedures of the public procurement code to large private construction sites and give more power to our representatives on safety in companies, territories and production sites. And we must invest much more in prevention, information and communication starting from school. Safe companies are also the most productive and innovative ones that best cope with competitiveness on the markets. This is the message that needs to get through,” they conclude.
