Fire Brigade intervention, State Road 198 temporarily closed

A large-scale fire affected the area of ​​the river bed parallel to state road 198, located between the territories of Villagrande and Tortolì, during the night. The flames, which broke out in the scrub and reeds, caused the temporary closure of the state road and significant slowdowns in traffic. The alarm went off shortly after midnight and the Tortolì fire brigade teams, supported by colleagues from the Lanusei detachment, intervened promptly. Efforts to contain and put out the fire continued from the early hours of the night until dawn, with operators working tirelessly to fight the flames.

Due to the intensity of the fire and the need to ensure the safety of both rescuers and motorists, Highway 198 was closed to traffic in both directions for about an hour. During this period, the Carabinieri of the Lanusei company managed the road system, regulating the flow of vehicles and diverting traffic. The flames covered a stretch of approximately one kilometer along the riverbed, creating an emergency situation that required a rapid and coordinated response from the police and firefighters.

Despite the complexity of the operation, fortunately there were no injuries or damage to housing structures, but the event highlighted the vulnerability of these areas to fire risk, especially during periods of particular drought or strong winds. The timely intervention made it possible to contain the fire and to reopen state road 198 shortly afterwards, restoring normality in traffic flow. However, the event remains a reminder of the importance of prevention and preparation in the face of such emergencies.
