Serious accident at 6 am on the A1, at km 284 northbound, between Firenze Impruneta and the A1-A11 Florence-Pisa junction towards Bologna. A car hit a motorway company van which was preparing a construction site on the road. The employees, three people, were injured in the collision. Healthcare personnel attended the scene. The conditions of the Società Autostradale staff are not serious: two people are in code green, one in code yellow. The driver of the car ran away.
He may have disappeared after the collision, investigations are underway. Around 8.10am – after northbound traffic had been stopped to allow rescue operations – the affected stretch of motorway has been reopened.
However, currently there are still some problems with traffic, with queues of around 7 km between South Florence and Impruneta.. During rescue operations, queues were also seen on the opposite road due to the slowing down of onlookers. The firefighters also intervened on the spot and took care of extinguishing the car, which caught fire after the collision.
