The day before departure we dedicated it to cultural visits to Kathmandu including Boudhanath (the largest Stupa in the world), Pashupatinath (a Hindu temple dedicated to a “form” of Shiva) and the Center Sherpa. At the end of the day we bought medicines that we will take to the clinic and games for the children we will meet in schools

Carlo Fiori, among the coordinators of the Il Millepiedi Social Cooperative, is one of the participants in the new solidarity journey led by Ngima Sherpa, he tells us about this new adventure that we will follow in a sort of “Nepalese Diary 2024″.

Ngima Sherpa has been wearing it for years several hikers, some of them from Varese or Varese, one step away from the highest peaks in the world in his native Nepal (HERE is the series of articles entitled “Nepali Diary”).

Ngima is 56 years old, Nepalese and has lived in Varese for almost 20 years with his family, wife and four children. He is the president of “Okhaldhunga Nine Hill Association”, as well as managing the “Unlimited Sherpa Expeditions” agency. For a few months he has also been president of the “Nepal nel cuore ODV” association.

Together with his association based in Nepal, he organizes various types of trips. With this group of solidarity walkers will cross villages and places where few hikers have had the chance to arrive, taking advantage of a significant and important opportunity. Through the help and charity of many individual friends and associations Ngima and his collaborators have managed to do a lot: four schools, an orphanage, long-distance adoptions, an underground tank of drinking water, a crematorium, two clinics, a clinic for hygiene and sanitation for women, a delivery room, solar panels, a fireplace, a stove, two decks, a radio and much more.

This year the group that is preparing is made up of 10 people who, through word of mouth, savoring a Nepalese dinner, participating in a Tibetan bell event, have entrusted themselves to Ngima and his “Nine Hills” staff to travel this journey together.
