2024 firefighting campaign: here is the video commercial

Like every year, although earlier than previous ones also due to climate change and the water crisis, the Municipality of Erice, through themunicipal civil protection officesets the firefighting campaign for the protection of forests and mountain biodiversity, and for the protection of public safety.

One was also made in 2024 spot to raise awareness among citizens to implement all the necessary and useful behaviors to combat the phenomenon of fires, and once again, to achieve it, it was Salvatore Russoa young 14 year old from Erice, to whom the Municipality of Erice expresses sincere thanks, extended to the actor Mauro Spitaleri and the two little “actors” Matteo Russo and Michele D’Angelo.

The video (click here to see it), thanks to impactful storytelling, it is a real Invitation to the respect for the environment and to protection of trees. Two children play in the company of what could be their grandfather (the actor from Erice Mauro Spitaleri) who stops to water a tree. The grandfather explains to his grandchildren the importance of taking care of the trees they represent «the breath of the earth». «They give us oxygen and protect our future», he adds. The images continue with a walk in the Erice pine forest while the “grandfather”, thoughtfully, reflects to himself on the importance of trees and the urgency of protecting them from fires, so as to guarantee a sustainable future. «Don’t burn the future, it is in your hands» is the final message, followed by an invitation to call promptly 112 (Single Emergency Number) in case of sighting of a fire.

«The commercial – they comment mayor Daniela Toscano and thecouncilor Paolo Genco – describes perfectly and effectively the messages we wanted to focus on this year, that is, the importance of today’s choices, made by all of us, and the responsibility we have towards the new generations. What future will we give to our young people if we ourselves do not do something today to protect the environment and, therefore, their lives? The experience of the “grandfather” of this video, the actor Mauro Spitaleri, whom we thank from the bottom of our hearts as well as the two children and their families, must therefore represent food for thought not only for young people, but also and above all for us adults.».

A message of gratitude for the author of the commercial. «The gratitude of the City of Erice goes to Salvatore – they continue mayor And councilor – because this year too he put himself on the line, with his talent, and gave life to a high quality product, making it available to his, our, community. A gesture of generosity and love for his territory, which we appreciate, and which he will have to be proud of forever».

Please remember that, as part of firefighting activities, it will be active from the day May 1 – and until next October 31st – theorder relating to cleaning of the land (click here to consult the news published on April 11th on the institutional website and to read the ordinance). We therefore urge all those who have not yet done so to clean the land. Non-compliance will be clearly sanctioned.
