25 years of environmental commitment – ​​SNPA – National environmental protection system

The initiative “Arpa FVG: 25 years of environmental commitment”, the series of events which will be organized throughout the regional territory starting from April 2024 to celebrate the 25 years of activity of the Regional Agency for the Protection of the Environment of Friuli Venezia Giulia.

Since the start of its activities in July 1999, Arpa FVG has constantly increased its presence in the area by innovating its monitoring, control and analysis techniquesas well as the ability to give effective responses to protect the environment we live in. The agency has always worked to preserve natural ecosystems and those modified by man, focusing on the control of environmental pressures, providing qualified services to support public administrations.

To share its mission with an increasingly wider audience, Arpa FVG has organized a series of events which will take place throughout the year under the concept “For 25 years we have been giving value to the future”.

The events will begin in April, with three days full of initiatives that see the exhibition space set up in as the fulcrum Ponterosso Square in Trieste.

This is the general program:

Thursday 18 April

2.00pm-7.30pm: Opening of the environmental education exhibition “Setting yourself at home”

Friday 19 April

9.00-19.30: Opening of the environmental education exhibition “Setting yourself at home”

10.45 am – Press conference to present the environmental education exhibition “Setting yourself up”

3.30 pm – “Trieste safe sea” conference, c/o Trieste Port Authority

Saturday 20 April

9.00-18.30: Opening of the environmental education exhibition “Setting yourself at home”

11.00 am – Press conference to present new Arpa FVG services

“Settling in” is the exhibition proposed by Arpa FVG, conceived as an educational resource both for schools and for the general public. The exhibition is divided into 5 thematic sections displayed on panels, which explore various aspects of the environment, such as fresh water, the sea, energy, electromagnetic pollution and waste management. Using large-scale photographs, informative graphics, playful activities and multimedia content accessible via QR code, “Setting Yourself” aims to promote greater environmental awareness and invites visitors to reflect on how their daily actions can influence the environment.

The “Mare Sicuro” conference, organized with the collaboration of the Prefecture of Trieste, the Port Authority – Coast Guard of Trieste and the Fire Brigade Command. Trieste will address crucial issues for the protection of the marine environment, including the planning of interventions, measures and controls in the presence of nuclear-powered ships, accidents at sea and the related operational plans. The experts from Arpa FVG will also illustrate the practices for monitoring discharges into the sea from the purifiers and will present the most recent updates on the climatology of the Gulf of Trieste and the related weather forecasts, essential for safe navigation.

Anna LutmannGeneral Director of Arpa FVG, underlines the importance of these appointments: “Each event is a precious opportunity to strengthen ties with the community and to raise awareness of our environmental commitment. We are proud to continue this path, together with the citizens of Friuli Venezia Giulia, for a healthy and sustainable environment. Celebrating our 25th anniversary is an opportunity to reflect on the goals achieved and to look to the future with renewed commitment.”

The agency will also announce, via a press conference, some new services offered: “Where are you”, a new product for obtaining georeferenced information via your smartphone; the weather forecast service extended up to 10 days; the possibility of consulting new updated and in-depth data for the sea and the lagoon.

The series of events will continue with new appointments that will touch the cities of Pordenone, Udine, Tolmezzo and Trieste.
