A Turkish citizen has died and at least ten other people have been injured in Turkey after a cabin of the Tunektepe cable car in Antalya, in the south of the country, hit a pole and broke. This was reported by the Minister of Health, Fahrettin Koca, quoted by the Anadolu news agency, underlining that the passengers of the cable car fell to the ground after the crash.
The accident
In particular, the accident was apparently caused by the collapse of a pylon along the tourist cableway that leads to a panoramic point above the seaside resort of Antalya. It happened yesterday around 6pm local time (5pm in Italy). When the pylon broke, it emerged, a cabin fell through the void onto rocky terrain below, resulting in the death of a passenger. Since the accident, over a hundred people divided into several cabins have been rescued, although around 40 still remain stranded, awaiting rescue.
