The police explained that he did not speak any words of Italian and was irregular on the National territory. It seems that he had only been there for a few days found accommodation at an acquaintance. Interpol had recently placed an alert on him as it was believed dangerous subjectbeing wanted by the Moroccan authorities.

Subsequent analyzes carried out by investigators from the local Flying Squad brought to light that the suspect was the recipient of an arrest request for extradition by the Moroccan authorities for murder. According to what has been reconstructed, in fact, the man would have doused with flammable liquid a woman setting it on firethus ending up killing her.

International police cooperation channels have been activated to confirm the precautionary measure. At the end of the identification procedures, the man was taken to prison, available to the authorities to start the procedures extradition.

A very similar episode occurred a few weeks in Padua and involved a Moroccan man who in 2011 killed his compatriot wife with 42 stab wounds in the Venetian city. Sentenced to 14 years in prison, he was released last year and transferred to the Repatriation Center in Gradisca d’Isonzo.

On that occasion he had asked to obtain international protection, but the Police Commissioner had issued a detention order for being socially dangerous. At the end of March the man – now 49 years old – was repatriated to Morocco by State Police operators and handed over to the competent Moroccan authorities.
