He took the 131 against traffic and at Mogoro he caused a head-on accident which cost him his life: Thus, Marino Aru, 62 years old, from Sardara, died during the night.
He was driving a Mercedes around 9.30pm yesterday when he entered Carlo Felice in the wrong direction of travel. The traffic police received numerous reports about that car going against traffic. Two patrols were sent from the station, one from Oristano and another from Sanluri: the dangerous maneuver took place on the border between the provinces of Cagliari and Oristano.
But the officers didn’t have time to avoid the drama: at kilometer 61, at the crossroads for Mogoro (just before the junction, on the semi-curve), the car driven by Aru crashed into a BMW which proceeded regularly towards Oristano. The impact was very violent.
The driver of the other car was transported under code red to the Cagliari Polyclinic: his life is not in danger, Aru instead died on board the ambulance that was rushing towards Brotzu.
