In 2023, the presence of 10 million 62 thousand tourists was recorded in Friuli Venezia Giulia, an increase of 6.9% compared to 2022 and 10.6% compared to 2019. Foreigners grew by 11.3%, Italians by 1.3%. These are some data released today by the Region with PromoturismoFvg, during a meeting in Trieste.
In the cities, attendance grew by 14.4%, reaching almost 2 million. In detail, Trieste grew the most with +16.9%, followed by Gorizia with +12.8%, Udine with +10.3% and Pordenone with +5.5%. Attendance at the seaside increased by 2.3%, those in the mountains by 15.6%.
Among foreigners, the percentage of tourists from Hungary especially rose +38.2%. Followed by arrivals from the United Kingdom (+30.3%), Czech Republic (23.4%), Poland (29.2%), Slovakia (+23.2%), United States (+18.8% ). The new routes connecting Trieste airport also had an impact on attendance. Flights to and from Barcelona led to an increase in arrivals from Spain (+24.2%), those to and from Dublin from Ireland (+97.2%). In general, attendance from Eastern Europe increased by 28.6%, those from the German market by 2.9%.
Focus then on the winter season, with 815,523 first entries to the ski resorts recorded as of 26 March and revenues of over 15.4 million euros. In 5 seasons, first admissions increased by 7.8%. From December 2023 to February 2024 tourist presences increased by 5.3% compared to the same period of the previous season.
“I hope that large hospitality investors can choose Fvg: we must increase the availability of accommodation and services”, underlined the president of Fvg, Massimiliano Fedriga. “The Region will continue to commit” to promoting the attractiveness of Fvg.
