A French tourist died in an accident on the state road 197 in the territory of San Gavino Monreale, in the province of Southern Sardinia. The victim, Alain Jules Cools, 59 years old, was traveling together with three other people in a car headed to Cagliari-Elmas airport, when the vehicle suddenly ended up off the road and overturned. The accident
The crash occurred on the afternoon of Friday 19 January a few hundred meters from the entrance to San Gavino Monrealeat kilometer 12,400 of the state road that connects the municipality in the heart of Campidano with nearby Guspini.
In the latter center of the historic Sardinian subregion of Monreale, the 59-year-old owned a house, where he had spent a short stay with two French friends.

The rescue
At the end of their holiday of a few days, the three tourists set off for Cagliari to catch the plane that would take them back to France, accompanied by the owner of a farmhouse in Guspini.
