WhatsApp will no longer work on these phones from July 1st: here’s why

The date to mark on the calendar so as not to be caught unprepared is Monday 1st July: one of the most used messaging apps in the world which has now been part of our daily lives for years, WhatsAppwill no longer be available on some cell phones. The “fault” very often lies with the updates frequent events that gradually cause smartphones purchased many years earlier to become increasingly obsolete, making it impossible to use some services.

The complete list

The models that will be most affected by this problem are:

  • as for the iPhone the affected models will be the 5, the 6, the 6 Plus and the SE;
  • between Samsung the Galaxy S3 Mini, Galaxy X Cover 2 and Galaxy Trend Lite will no longer be able to access WhatsApp;
  • the longer the list of devices Lg: L3 II Dual, Lg Optimus L5 Dual, Lg Optimus L7 Dual, Lg Optimus F3Q, Lg Optimus L2 II e Lg Optimus F6;
  • Other device types that will no longer be able to use the messaging app include the Alcatel Go Flip 2, ZTE Grand S Flex, ZTE Grand Memo and Sony Xperia M;
  • as for i MotorolaWhatsApp will no longer be usable by Moto G, Moto X;
  • on the Huawei will no longer work between Ascend P6 S, Ascend G525, Huawei C199, Huawei GX1s, Huawei Y625;
  • between Lenovo the list concerns Lenovo 46600, Lenovo A858T, Lenovo P70, Lenovo S890, Lenovo A820.

The main causes

As mentioned, the main reason lies in the updates that, occasionally but with a certain time frequency, affect all smartphone brands: developers release them not only to fix bugs or system errors but also and above all for the most modern devices that are released on the market every year. It is therefore logical to expect that a device that is a few years old may not be 100% compatible with the most modern ones that have a different technology that cuts them off from some services, in this case WhatsApp. Not only that, but developers (it is the law of the market) have an interest in “protecting” and providing support to the most modern phones to the detriment of the older ones that gradually become unusable over time.

Some users in possession of the smartphones listed above, in recent months, had been warned that from July 1st they would find themselves faced with this crossroads: either buy a more modern device or stop

to use WhatsApp. There is also a third solution: download the web version through any search engine (from Chrome to Firefox and many others) without the need to do any downloads or new installations.
