Off-road enthusiasts have always been divided between Jeep lovers and Land Rover fans. The concept of 4×4 was born in the United States with the launch of the very first Jeeps. In England they were quick to propose their interpretation of wheeled cars, based on the layout of the historic Michigan cars which had proved irrepressible even during the Second World War.
Land Rover, with a British style, tried to raise the bar in terms of quality. In the 1970s the brand unveiled the first luxury off-road vehicle in history: the Range Rover. For decades, until 1990, Land Rover was identified with the Defender model. With the success of the two flagship models of the English company, the range was expanded. In 2008, the Indian Tata Group controlled Land Rover and Jaguar. Compared to the negative period at Ford, turnover has skyrocketed, also thanks to the marketing of SUVs more suited to our urban contexts.
The differences between Land Rover and Range Rover
Today Land Rover promotes the Discovery, the Defender, the Velar and the Evoque, a new manifesto of the positive Indian trend. They have become luxury cars, combining reliability and top-level performance. Take a look at the latest extreme version of the Defender. The Range Rover starts at 133 thousand euros. The flagship of the Land Rover brand has reached its fifth generation. It has the following measurements: length of 505 cm (and wheelbase of 299) or 525 cm (the LWB long wheelbase version, with distance between the centers of the wheels of 319 cm), width and height of 198 and 187 cm .
The front of the Range Rover boasts an imposing profile with a huge grille that gives the 4×4 an image of unstoppability. The Range Rover script is visible at the end of the bonnet. The grille, however, features the green Land Rover logo plate. The Range Rover achieves spectacular performance, thanks to very powerful engines. The 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder engine, combined with a mild-hybrid system, was also launched a few years ago.
