Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, the trailer ran on Switch 2? An answer arrives

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond it will be released during 2025, as confirmed during the Nintendo Direct on June 18th.

After the remaster of the first chapter, which you can also find on Amazon at a really low price (and in physical version), the series will return with the fourth official episode of the franchise.

Among all the news from the Nintendo Direct, dedicated to the games arriving on Nintendo Switch in the second half of 2024 and beyond, the return of Samus was certainly among the most welcome.

After announcing it for the first time more than seven years ago, Nintendo decided to show the game in action in a first gameplay video.

Now, as also reported by Wccfechgiven that many have wondered if the video shown yesterday of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond whether or not it was a game for Switch 2someone decided to set the record straight.

Following the release of the game’s first proper trailer, Nintendo World Report took a look at the game’s resolution and frame rate, revealing that all of its gameplay sequences ran at 720p resolutioneffectively confirming that they were captured on the current Switch and not on the successor that will launch next year.

Although the resolution is low by today’s standards, the frame rate of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond It already looks great, given that the sequences shown in the trailer were all shot at 60 frames per secondexcept for the sequence where Samus transforms into her spherical form, which led to a very short cal.

Since we’re still months away from the game’s release, things could change in the final version, so there’s no guarantee that the game will actually hit 720p resolution in docked mode.

In addition to resolution and framerate, Nintendo World Report took a look at the other visual characteristics of Metroid Prime 4: Beyondincluding the off-the-shelf lighting system that manages to look great in most situations.

The gameplay sequences shown in the trailer, however, are not enough to understand whether the game will feature some sort of real-time ambient occlusion, as there are several elements that provide contradictory information.

Recall that the last chapter of the series Metroid Prime it was a remaster of the original, released for Nintendo Switch in 2023 (we reviewed it here).
