Sony today announced a new system update dedicated to PlayStation Portalwhich will be made available in the next few hours and will bring some important news to the device dedicated to remote play from PS5.

The new June update for PlayStation Portal should be available from tomorrow, June 19, 2024, but the details were published today by Sony through the official PlayStation blog, which lists several interesting features added with the automatic system update.

Among the major innovations is the possibility of connect to a wide range of public Wi-Fi networks which may require additional validation steps beyond entering your network password.

In some cases, Wi-Fi networks with login screens present in hotels, bars and airports did not previously allow access through PlayStation Portal while with this update a QR code will be displayed to be scanned with your smartphone or tablet, referring to the browser Web of the latter to be able to complete the validation of the connection with PS Portal.

What’s new in the June update to PlayStation Portal

Another novelty is represented by the new visual feedback for tactile areas of the touch pad.

When using the touchscreen for some additional commands, the areas touched will respond with visual feedback that allows you to understand where you have touched and thus have a clearer reference.

Another addition is the ability to view the battery level in percentage in the top right corner of the screen, which can be activated by going to the specific option in Settings, then System, Battery and activating “Show battery percentage”.

Sony also reported that it was very satisfied with the excellent public response to PlayStation Portal, with over 60% of device owners using the Remote Play feature on PS5 for the first time. Even recently, the company reiterated that PlayStation Portal has been and continues to be a great success.
