Starfield will soon receive its first large-caliber expansion, but apparently it won’t be the only one, with support also planned for the 2025 with new content including updates and DLC and maybe even major annual expansions in the next future.
This is what he reported Todd Howard during the interview with the YouTuber MrMattyPlays, in which the main topic was Bethesda’s space RPG, its current situation and future prospects for the game.
We recently saw the presentation of Shattered Space, the first major expansion that will bring new content to the history of Starfield, but evidently it is not destined to remain an isolated case, given that the head of Bethesda seems intent on continuing support even remotely of years.
Starfield: Year 2 and other annual expansions
“The exit pace it will be different depending on the type of update we have planned”, he explained, “sometimes they will be more frequent, other times there will be longer pauses between major content”.
However, it sure looks like the support plan is long-term for Starfield.
“There will perhaps be bigger pauses over the next year between contents of Year 2 that we are planning, but we will communicate things more precisely to the public.”
Apparently, there is a real plan underway for Starfield Year 2, which will run until 2025 and perhaps others after that, with Howard seeming to indicate a desire to launch major expansions on an annual basis.
After Shattered Space, there is therefore at least one other large-scale expansion expected later and probably others too. “How long will it last, let’s hope it’s a long time, but in the meantime we’ve definitely already planned another expansion after this one, so there’s definitely another one,” explained Howard, who in the same interview also updated on the amount of players reached by Starfield and average engagement.
