There are just a few days left until the announcement of the new July games for PlayStation Plus Essential, set for 5.30pm on Wednesday 26 June, so on this Sunday stingy with announcements we thought we’d have a bit of fun trying to speculate on the identity of the titles in question.
Looking at the history of the service, we noticed that Sony has repeatedly given away a Call of Duty in the middle of summer. In July 2021 it offered Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 while in July last year its sequel, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. What if history repeats itself again? For this reason we want to focus on Call of Duty: Vanguardwhich is now three years old and would represent an excellent appetizer in view of the next episode of the series coming out in October (which, incidentally, is Call of Duty Black Ops 6).
Do you know what else suits us in the hottest season of the year? A great sports video game! In this regard we would really like to see Captain Tsubasa Rise of Champions, because with its lightness and its disregard for the laws of physics it would be a perfect counterpoint to the European football championships that have just started. Yes, we know that EA Sports FC 24 was already given away a few months ago, but dreaming costs nothing!
The third and final game in the PlayStation Plus Essential selection is usually represented by an indie. Here Sony is literally spoiled for choice and we must admit that it has surprised us several times in the past, also offering high quality titles. For July we therefore name Grisbecause Neva’s presentation at the recent Summer Game Fest captured us and we believe that Nomada Studio’s first work deserves to be discovered by an even wider audience.
