Small tweaks for BMW 2 Series Coupe

AWAY WITH THE BUTTONS – Updated style, richer equipment and greater digitalisation: all this promises the new one BMW 2 Series Coupe. Inside we find the new BMW System 8.5 operating system for the multimedia system, which integrates the various functions on the displays including the climate and seat heating controls, which can be recalled with a touch or through a voice command. As standard equipment the new 2 Series Coupé is now equipped with steering wheel in M leather, with a flattened crown at the bottom, a red central indicator at 12 o’clock and contrasting stitching. They are also standard seats heated sports cars, both for the driver and for the front passenger, while electric adjustment is offered as an option. The range has been expanded systems standard for driving and parking semi-autonomous: parking assistant, forward collision warning, unintentional lane departure warning, cruise control and traffic sign recognition become standard on all versions.

SPORTIER AS STANDARD – For all BMW 2 Series Coupe the package M Sports it becomes an endowment standard, so the look becomes more sporty. It includes larger air intakes at the front of the vehicle, side skirts and a striking rear apron with vertical reflectors and a diffuser-like insert. All variants of the 2 Series Coupe have circles 18″ light alloy with two-tone finish, while the 19″ ones are available as an option (standard on the M240i).

SAME ENGINES – The range of engines from BMW 2 Series Coupe it consists of a three 4-cylinder petrol, a 6-cylinder petrol and a 4-cylinder diesel. At the top of the range is the 3-litre 6-cylinder M240i capable of delivering 374 HP and combined with xDrive all-wheel drive or rear-only. The 2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine instead equips the 218i of 156 HP, the 220i of 184 HP and the 230i of 245 HP. For those who come a long way, the 220d it is equipped with the 2-liter diesel capable of 190 HP with light hybrid technology, which consumes 5.4-4.9 l/100 km based on the data declared by the company. All versions are combined with automatic gearbox 8-speed Steptronic. All 4-cylinder 2 Series Coupes are equipped with suspensions M Sport, which promise to increase agility and cornering dynamics thanks to a rigid suspension and ride-dependent shock absorbers. The M240i, on the other hand, offers the Adaptive M Chassis as an option, which includes variable sports steering and electronically controlled shock absorbers with three characteristic maps.

500 HP IS CLOSE – News also for the BMW M2 (in the photo above), which increases the power of the 3-liter inline 6-cylinder equipped with two mono-scroll turbochargers, reaching a peak of 480 HP. Maximum torque remains at 550 Nm for the variants with the 6-speed manual gearbox (optional), while it rises to 600 Nm with the 8-speed automatic M Steptronic transmission. To allow better management of the increased power of the engine, it was modified the mapping and accelerator response in all driving modes: the result, according to the company, is quicker reactions to driver inputs.
