PS5: the lack of news on PlayStation Studios games explained by a well-known insider

From Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 onwards there have been no great ones novelty regarding the production of games from PlayStation Studios on PS5not to say that practically nothing has emerged so far, and one explanation for this period of total lack of announcements and information has arrived in recent days from a well-known insider.

It’s practically nothing new, but coming from Shinobi602considered a rather reliable source especially with regards to Sony productions, can be particularly interesting: in fact, everything can be explained by the enormous amount of time that the production of a modern game now requires.

Excluding VR titles, someone on the NeoGAF forum pointed out how they are more than two and a half years that Sony is not announcing a new game from PlayStation Studios, and considering that even the one we now have some certainty about, namely Marvel’s Wolverine, could be aimed at 2026, the moment of pause seems to be really important.

It simply takes a long time

“I think some still they haven’t really understood how long it takes to make games now,” reported Shinobi602, making it clear that years of waiting are pretty much the norm at the moment, between one big game and another.

“A lot of teams released big games not too long ago: just in the last couple of years, Guerrilla released Horizon Forbidden West which is huge, helped with the development of Horizon Call of the Mountain and the PC port “The insider pointed out, Santa Monica launched God of War Ragnarok a year and a half ago, Polyphony launched GT7 two years ago.”

In essence, according to Shinobi, there is the problem that many “want living in hype mode constantly“, through continuous announcements and news with expectations about the future, but with the development times that lie ahead it is not possible. Furthermore, according to the insider, some teams prefer not to show much of their work until they have a more defined period concerning the conclusion of these.

Beyond this, the insider pointed out that Sony, for some time, has been trying to fill the void left by the lack of internal productions from PlayStation Studios with various third party exclusives (or “second party”, so to speak) distributed strategically.

Shinobi602 also let it be known that there is at least one game that may be very close to completion that he expected to have already been shown, but that it hasn’t been announced yet, so it could emerge soon.
