What happens when an atelier that produces artisanal cars of the caliber of the Morgan Motor Company meets the creativity of a designer like Pininfarina? The answer is called Morgan Midsummera new and exclusive “barchetta” produced exclusively 50 unitsall already rigorously sold, capable of best embodying the noble spirit of British sports cars with a retro flavour.
Morgan Midsummer, timeless design
Based on the Plus Six available from 2019, the Midsummer is inspired by the sBritish portives from the 1930s and 1940s which were distinguished by their characteristic long tails. In place of the windshield we find a pair of aerodynamic covers typical of vintage boats. The round headlights are newly designed, larger than those of the Plus Six from which it derives and which incorporate the direction indicators and daytime LEDs. The car has rims from 19 inches weighing 10 kg (3 kg less than the Plus Six rims), wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tyres.
Cockpit stuffed with wood
The cockpit with a strong retro flavor is literally stuffed with wood: we’re talking about approx 126 layers of teak wood and it carries around 120 panels, all the result of over 30 hours of work. The forged aluminum steering wheel has a modern design, while behind it we find the analogue instrumentation with round elements, there is no shortage of classic-style leather seats and the automatic gear lever positioned in the large central tunnel in front of the parking brake.
Engine and mechanics
The car manages to maintain a dry weight within 1,000kg, which enhances the engine’s capabilities six-cylinder turbo petrol from BMW 340 HP (estimated power), managed by an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Handling is managed by adjustable Nitron shock absorbers, developed specifically for this model and fine-tuned to enhance the pleasure of sporty driving.
