Minor tweaks and a new version

Four years after launch, for the sedan Audi A3 here comes a slight update. In the five-door Sportback and in the four-door Sedan the bumpers, the grille and some interior details change. Plus, the variant is added allstreet based on the Sportback, which differs in one light on the ground greater than 3 cm obtained by modifying the suspension and fitting tires with a higher sidewall. This is enough to move with less fear on dirt roads (and on the ruined asphalt that is easily found in many of our cities), even if there are no specific driving programs for “difficult” funds like snow and mud; all-wheel drive will only be available for the 204 HP 2.0 mild hybrid petrol engine (coming later, but still in 2024).

For now, 150 horsepower

To differentiate theAudi A3 allstreet from the Sportback is also the front, with a mask taller and squarer and wide-mesh honeycomb grille; the bumpers are specific, with satin elements, and the plastic protectors around the wheel arches and under the doors, in a contrasting color with that of the bodywork. THE engines they are the same as the Sportback, both with 150 HP: the 1.5 turbo mild hybrid petrol and the 2.0 diesel of the test car, in both cases with the dual-clutch gearbox and seven speeds. By the end of 2024 they should also be added for the allstreet le plug-in hybrid variants with 204 or 245 HP, while the spirited S3 variant with the 2.0 turbo petrol engine with 333 HP remains exclusive to the Sportback and Sedan.

From 39,500 euros

L’Audi A3 allstreet it is already on sale with prices starting from 39,500 euros for the petrol light hybrid and from 40,800 euros for the diesel one. Adaptive cruise control, navigation and rear view camera are standard. There Business Advanced of the test adds full LED headlights, electric adjustment (lumbar included) for the seats and 18″ wheels. Among them optionalthe new LED matrix headlights (1,920 euros for the Business Advanced): in addition to being very effective, they allow you to customize the car by choosing (via the display in the center of the dashboard) between four light patterns created by the daytime running lights.

Goodbye to the stick

Carefully crafted and quite large, the passenger compartment of theAudi A3 allstreet it is identical to that of the Sportback, with driving position relaxed, like a sedan, decidedly well set up. Also the Sofa it’s short; those sitting on the sides are comfortable, while a fifth passenger in the center has the tunnel in the floor between his feet, about twenty centimeters high and equally wide. The innovations in the passenger compartment are shared between the different versions. The coverings, such as the textile one on the dashboard, are partly made from recycled materials (such as PVC) and have a pleasant appearance. Slightly revised “climate” vents on the sides of the dashboard, which present an “arrow” motif highlighted by shiny elements, while in the tunnel the gear lever disappears, replaced by an equally practical rocker. The refined remains unchanged digital dashboard 12.3″, very bright and with countless customization possibilities, in addition to the effective multimedia system: from the 10.1″ screen in the center of the dashboard you can easily access all the on-board functions, including the new “app store” . They can be downloaded from here various applications, such as Spotify or Amazon music. The capacity of the trunk is not bad, which is the same as that of the other versions: 380 liters per sofa in use. The bottom can be positioned at two heights.

Raised, but agile

In our short test we appreciated the remarkable agilitythe reduced roll when cornering and the precise steering of theAudi A3 allstreet: even when driving a little brilliantly, this car doesn’t make you regret the lower Sportback. However, although tires with higher sidewalls help cushion the shocks due to driving over potholes and bumps, the car remains quite stiff. The 150 HP of the 2.0 turbodiesel respond promptly, progressively right from low revs and the classic ticking of diesel engines is almost always well muffled; we estimate consumption close to what the manufacturer declared (20 km/litre). Good too exchange with double clutch, equipped with paddles on the steering wheel for manual selection of the seven gears: it is Sweet in gear changes and, especially in sport mode, also rapid.
