No Rest for the Wicked: Moon Studios explains why it isn’t produced with Microsoft

Moon Studios is a team that became famous thanks to the Ori series, which for a long time remained exclusive to Xbox and even today is not completely multiplatform, and it would be precisely the desire to reach out to a wider audience to have pushed the team not to renew the collaboration with Microsoft to produce No Rest for the Wicked.

As explained by Thomas Mahler, the studio’s CEO, the idea was to try to expand the boundaries of the project as much as possible: “We always wanted to create an action role-playing game that could be accessible from any platform and with full support for cross-play and more, and we are extremely happy that Private Division understood our vision and believed in it, letting us work on it.”

Furthermore, according to what Mahler reported there were already many fans of the Ori series who were asking for games on PlayStationand the fact of not being able to satisfy this request was seen as a limit for the team, despite the game also arriving on Nintendo Switch.

A vision that goes beyond exclusives

For this reason, among other things, Mahler reported that he greatly appreciated the new vision of Microsoftwith Xbox games opening up to other platforms, and it’s a principle that Sony would also like to see implemented with PlayStation games.

However, at the beginning of the development of No Rest for the Wicked the situation was still different: “If we had signed a deal for No Rest for the Wicked with Xbox at the time, it would still have been an Xbox exclusive”, and it was not a which was in line with what the team wanted to do.

“Now the company is more open to supporting games on all platforms,” added Mahler, “and frankly it’s an initiative that we would also like Sony to adopt itAccording to the CEO of Moon Studios, in fact, “If we want our industry to grow, we must stop these closures and make access to products as simple and cheap as possible for everyone,” he reported.

Meanwhile, the game released on Steam Early Access to a great response, as demonstrated by the trailer celebrating first impressions from early access. It recently received another hotfix with various improvements.
