DJI has announced a surprise new drone model, the Mini 4K. It is not a new drone, we are in fact faced with a Mini 2 SE with a different processor that allows you to record images in 4K instead of 2.7K. The 1/2.3 inch sensor is the same as the Mini 2 SE, but on the model sold to date it was precisely the processor that represented a bottleneck, a limit that has now been overcome.

DJI released this drone for two reasons: the first is that it didn’t cost them too much effort, it changes a chip, the second is that it has to counter the competition of many manufacturers who are offering excellent drones under 250 grams, therefore models for everyone who do not require a license.

The Mini 4K has a flight autonomy of 31 minutes and costs 299 euros, and will also be available in the Fly More Combo version with case and additional batteries for 439 euros.

It must be said that, despite the improvements on the video front where the capture resolution increases, there are small differences related to regulations: the Mini 4K is in Class 0, C0, and this means that it has a height limit of 120 meters that cannot be circumvented in any way. The old Mini 2 SE did not have this limit. Furthermore, like most DJI drones, the model also supported the SDK to be able to fly with third-party apps, enabling special navigation modes: at the moment the Mini 4K is not present among the models supported by the SDK but it could arrive later with a library update.

In any case, we find ourselves faced with an excellent drone for everyone, also perfect for summer holidays: the price is super competitive, the brand is unquestionable.
