The performance of Ferraris requires a special harness on the seats. Passengers’ bodies should remain snug at high speeds. The structure also allows you not to be tossed around due to lateral G forces on mixed sections. The four-point hitch is usually designed for racing cars that take to the track.
The body of the occupants is completely blocked to allow safe and focused driving when reaching the limit. Although they are indispensable in motorsport, seat belts with three safety points have been approved on everyday roads.
Technical innovation for the Ferraris of the future
In the event of a crash in the city, for example, the heads of the occupants could continue moving at the speed at which the Ferrari was travelling. The support structure and helmet should not be forgotten used by pro drivers on the track who are also trained to undergo pressure in the cervical area. On the road, a similar solution would be impractical and even dangerous.
What have they invented in the Maranello factories? The technicians would have developed harnesses made up of various “levels” of stitching that disintegrate progressively in the event of a crash, limiting whiplash.
The belts would feature 3 different types of stitching, each with a specific level of resistance so as to have ideal rigidity in sports driving, but also an excellent level of elasticity in the event of accidents. In Ferrari they would thus have found a safe method to improve the driving experience on board. It is not clear in which models it will be presented in the future, but with an innovative style they will surprise the competition with top ideas and materials.
