The Turkish Volleyball Federation has announced that the team is under the rubble of the building where they were hosted. Rasus Kimya Hatay Volleyball Team players play in the league in 15th Group of TVF Women’s Volleyball 2nd League. Among the information received is that the building they were in was destroyed by the earthquake that occurred in Kahramanmaras at 04:17 local time.

Sportsmen who are missing

The women’s and men’s volleyball teams of 28 players from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus for the tournament held in Adiyaman also remain under the rubble. At the same time, Olympic wrestling champion Taha Akgül launched a desperate cry for help on Instagram. Akgül won the title at the Rio Olympics in 2016 and the bronze in Tokyo in 2020. He announced that the building where his club is located was destroyed by the earthquake and between 30 and 40 wrestlers are under the rubble: “L he building where 30 (maybe even 40) of our remaining wrestlers at the Kahramanmarash club was destroyed. Our athletes are still there. We are waiting for urgent help. Help, Lord!”.

Alanya Belediyespor Club number one Mehmet Erken said he had taken the necessary steps to reach out to the players and said, “Our hearts are broken. We hope our citizens who are under the rubble will be removed as soon as possible I hope our athletes will be reached as soon as possible. My condolences to the families of our citizens who lost their lives.”

Good news for the girls of the missing Turkish volleyball team. The club, through its website, has indicated that five of the players have been pulled out of the rubble. They are in good health and are about to be reunited with their families.
