How the whole trend of the world championship changes: excellent news for Pecco Bagnaia, while the leader of the standings Jorge Martin is in difficulty.
The next few months will be truly intense and decisive for MotoGP. The current season of the world championship is offering intriguing situations and possible twists, ready to upset the rider rankings and the final goals. The absolute duel at the top concerns the two best riders of the moment.
On the one hand Pecco Bagnaia, reigning world champion who races for Ducati Lenovo. On the other, the current leader of the standings Jorge Martin, riding the Pramac. Two absolute talents that they are battling it out on curves and straights and, as mentioned, they will give life to a very exciting duel until the end.
The last Grand Prix took place on June 2nd, at Mugello, saw Bagnaia achieve a fundamental success. The Italian came in first place in the ‘home’ race, followed by his compatriot Enea Bastianini. Only third place for Martin, who therefore sees himself getting closer in the standings to his rival: there are only 18 points separating the two riders, without forgetting the rise of Marc Marquez behind them.

Therefore the Mugello GP had the merit of giving even more uncertainty and charm to the 2024 world championship. There are very few points of difference between Bagnaia and Martin, so it seems impossible to decide the favorite in this duel. But in the meantime there is a reversal that is causing discussion just in the last few hours.
After Bagnaia’s victory on Italian soil, things have been turned upside down automatically also the ante-post odds on winning the MotoGP world championship. Until a few weeks ago Jorge Martin was considered the favorite precisely because of his advantage in the standings. But now the situation is reversed: Bagnaia’s final triumph is at 2.00, as if the third world success of his career was more obvious than ever.
They go up to 2.50 instead Martin’s chances of ultimate successwho still remains 18 points ahead of his rival. As mentioned, Marquez should not be underestimated either, as he is confirming his return to excellent levels with Gresini Racing. A sensational double overtaking by the Catalan is worth 4.50 times the stake.
The next meeting is in Assen, Holland, after a four-week break. It will be interesting to understand if Martin has suffered the blow and if Bagnaia is ready to overtake on the track too, not just in the betting odds.
