Sergio Perez has completed the qualifications of the Austrian Grand Prix in eighth position and speaking to ESPN about the difficulties encountered during the session: “We’re not getting betterit seems like I need more time to adapt than Max needs with the car, with the changes we made. And thinking about tomorrow, ultimately the goal is to improve our degradation and our race pace. Today there wasn’t much difference with the new tyre and in Q1 we ended up using two, which totally hurt us for Q3. Considering the margins we had, I think I was four tenths away from P2, so with the used tyres in Q3 it was complicated. They deteriorated a lot during the ride and that hurt a bit. The old tire compared to the used one, on a track that has a lot of degradation, has an impact so there was something wrong in that sense. Secondly, we are not maximizing the potential on our part”. In the end: “Yes, I think we will make some progress. It’s a shame because with these margins of 2-3 tenths the position changes a lot. There will be a lot of strategy for tomorrow and we are moving forward.”
