Gresini Racing » News MotoGP » SATURDAY DOES NOT SMILE FOR THE GRESINI MOTOGP TEAM
June 29, 2024
First the bad news: on one hand Marc Marquez crashed at turn two after completing just one lap of the sprint race, on the other Alex Marquez finished 8th following a 3 second penalty for track limits (having not completed the long lap).
The good news: Marc comes out unscathed from a high-speed crash, while Alex runs most of the race in top-5 positions showing an excellent pace. His 4th place on the starting grid and the seventh of his brother number 93 give hope for a much brighter Sunday.
8º – ALEX MARQUEZ #73
“Two laps less and it would have been a completely different result. Jokes aside, we suffered a bit at the end with the rear tyre, but on the other hand we gathered good information on the hard front tire which will be important from a race perspective. We still have to work on some details and tomorrow we will be top 5.”
NC – MARC MARQUEZ #93
“It’s never good to make a mistake and fall. On the positive side, the fact remains that we could have hurt ourselves and that didn’t happen, especially this morning at turn 7. It’s a shame in the race because the feeling with the bike was excellent and now we’ll have to recover it in the warm up.”
