ADNKRONOS – The rumors about the sale of As Roma are recurring. Certainly at a greater rate than that of the ritual denials that come from top management and never directly from the family Friedkin. Are these just uncontrolled indiscretions and instrumental rumors or does the traditional ‘silence’ of American entrepreneurs serve to cover up an operation that is taking shape? Two different sources tell the news agency of the concrete interest of an Arab fund, obviously equipped with significant liquidity. Other sources assure, however, that the Friedkins are engaged in a restructuring and relaunch operation which does not include the option of disengagement.

The staff cuts, the closing of the Eur offices and the consequent transfer of all employees to Trigoriathe uncertainty about the contract renewals of various top managerial figures are arguments that can support the thesis of those who propose a disengagement.
The other chapter to consider is that of communication. The last official denial regarding the sale hypothesis is the one entrusted a month ago to Hello: “Thanks to the investments and long-term commitment of the Friedkin family, Roma aims to occupy an increasingly relevant position in the elite of European and Italian football”. Not much, even compared to the amount of rumors that continue to circulate. The choice to always rely on the ‘strategy of silence’ can work when the paths are linear, the results are satisfactory and the development perspective is clear. On the contrary, when phases of transformation need to be managed, as is evidently the case in progress, talking could bring a benefit. Unless, as those who see a sale imminent claim, silence is not functional to the overall strategy.
