The first satisfaction of the season did not arrive for Riccione 1926 in their debut in the Coppa Italia: the match hosted at the Beach Stadium Torre Faro, in Messina, pitted the bottom of the league, in the case of Città di Milano, against the promotion pool for the Romagnoli and ended with a resounding victory in favor of the Lombards. Milan took the lead in the 7th minute with a close-range conclusion by Soleiman Batis but Riccione’s response was almost immediate and materialized with a diagonal shot by Bastos that Riccardinho’s deflection made the winner. The tie held for the entire first half and for much of the second when a mistake by Riccione goalkeeper Cavaleri paved the way for Batis’ winning lob that put Milan back in front. In the third then the gap becomes even wider thanks to the unleashed Batis who signs his hat trick capitalizing on another blunder in disengagement, this time by Turchi, and makes it 3-1, then there is glory also for Savarese (great long-distance shot) and above all Ilardo, spectacular overhead kick that sets the score at 5-1. A clear knockout for Riccione who will return to the field this afternoon in the second-tier pairings to face Vastese.
