Sport enters the Novate prison with a project based on the values ​​of respect and healthy competition. The companies are proposing it Spes Borgotrebbia e Sitav Rugby Lyons, with the collaboration of the Municipality of Piacenza, Sport and Health and Csv Emilia. Two days a week – once for football and once for rugby – from last April until June next year, the coaches cross the gate of the district house equipped with a whistle, ball, Chinese pieces and everything needed to give the inmates two hours of fresh air and fun. There are a total of thirty-two young people (15 for football and 17 for rugby) inmates who have signed up, in agreement with the management, for the sports project. This is not a new initiative. “Already before Covid – he explains Marcello Stonesa Spes technician and project manager – we carried out a project, in collaboration with the Oltre il muro association, which dealt with recreational and cultural activities in prison. Then the pandemic stopped everything and now we have been given the opportunity to repeat that experience”. The project, entitled “Fischio di ripresa. Percorsi sportive dedicato a persone in stato di detention” obtained funding of 14 thousand and 100 euros through “Sport di tutti – carceri” (Sport for everyone – prisons), an initiative promoted by the Minister for Sport and Youth Andrea Abodi, through the Department for Sport, carried out in collaboration with Sport e Salute.

Rugby and football are added to the other activities, already present for some time, that characterize the Novate prison. “Sport can lead to re-education from many points of view – explains Jacopo Salvetticoach of the under 18s of Sitav Rugby Lyons and coordinator of the project.
