Bee Special Rugby Day, the oval ball is even more inclusive

RIETI – An “Open Day” is coming to Rieti to launch the new inclusive adventure of the Unified Tag Rugby of Special Olympics Italy. Saturday 29 June from 9:30 on the lawn of the Stadio Comunale Fulvio Iacoboni, in viale Alberto Fassini, 5 the event organized by BeeRugby will be held, in collaboration with Special Olympics Italia Team Rieti and Team Lazio, the Panathlon club of Rieti, the Lions Club Flavia Gens Rieti, the Lazio Region, the Province of Rieti, the Municipality of Rieti, the Coni and the Italian Rugby Federation. The event will host various oval realities, some Special Olympics teams and other inclusive organizations that are invited to let their athletes try a discipline that stimulates cooperation and fun.

The program includes:

– at 9.30 am the reception and the delivery of shirts and hats;

– followed by the greetings of the authorities;

– technical exercises and tag rugby 7 exhibition;

– at 12.30 the awards ceremony;

– a third half offered by the company to all participants.

The Bee Special Rugby day was presented in a press conference hosted on Wednesday 26 June in the Council Chamber of the Municipality of Rieti during which the details of the initiative and the social and sporting goals that BeeRugby aims to achieve were illustrated. An initiative to share the passion for sport and the value of inclusion through sport.

Tag rugby is a non-contact sport played by wearing a Velcro belt at the waist to which two ribbons are tied above the hips. The way of playing is similar to touch rugby, but the “touch” is replaced by the opposing defense’s attempt to snatch one of the ribbons from the advancing ball carrier. This action replaces the classic rugby tackle and requires the player who has been “tagged” to quickly pass the ball to a teammate.
