A few hours before the Wimbledon 2024 main draw draw, Andy Murray breaks the silence on his participation in the tournament which saw him triumph twice. The British champion, struggling with back problems that forced him to retire at Queen’s, made significant statements to The Guardian.
“I’ll wait until the last minute to see if I can do it, I’ve earned it,” Murray said. “It’s not clear if I will be 100% ready or if there is zero chance that I will be able to play. I would say it’s more likely that he can’t play singles at the moment. I’m doing rehab 24/7 to try to get an opportunity to play there again.”
The two-time Olympic champion does not exclude the possibility of participating only in the doubles tournament, perhaps paired with his brother Jamie, if his physical conditions do not allow him to face best-of-five sets matches.

Murray also spoke about his possible retirement: “I know there are more important things in the world than how I finish playing my last tennis match or where I play it. But as much as I’ve invested in the sport over the last few years, I’d like to at least go out playing a game in decent conditions where it’s at least competitive, not like what happened at Queen’s.”

The former world number one has hinted that if he fails to recover for Wimbledon and the Paris Olympics, he might consider playing another tournament elsewhere to finish his career. However, he stressed that if he manages to participate in Wimbledon and the Olympic Games, that will most likely be where he will hang up his racket.
Murray’s name will be included in tomorrow’s draw, but his actual participation remains uncertain. Tennis fans around the world are eagerly awaiting the news of whether they will once again see the British champion perform on the lawns of Wimbledon, even if only in doubles.
